Katie Stockton, CMT, is the Founder and Managing Partner of Fairlead Strategies, LLC, an independent research firm and registered investment advisor based in Greenwich, Connecticut. Fairlead specializes in technical analysis and disciplined, rules-based investment strategies, including the Fairlead Tactical Sector ETF (TACK), which applies sector rotation and asset-allocation techniques to help investors navigate evolving market conditions.
Katie is an official CNBC Contributor recognized for her objective coverage of U.S. equities and bitcoin. She is frequently featured across major financial media outlets, such as Barron's, The Wall Street Journal, and MarketWatch.
With more than three decades of Wall Street experience, Katie has delivered technical research and strategic insights to leading institutional investors. Before founding Fairlead, she served as Chief Technical Strategist at BTIG and Chief Market Technician at MKM Partners, with prior roles at Morgan Stanley and Wit Soundview.
Katie earned the Chartered Market Technician (CMT®) designation in 2001 and served as Vice President of the CMT Association from 2012 to 2016. She also served on the Board of Directors of Cary Street Partners from 2023 to 2025. She holds a BSBA with honors from the University of Richmond.
Dan Wychulis is President & COO of Fairlead Strategies, LLC, where he draws on more than two decades of experience in financial services to guide the firm's strategic direction and client engagement. His background spans capital markets, equities, investment banking, institutional sales, research, and business development.
Before joining Fairlead, Dan served as CEO of LifeSci Capital, a healthcare-focused investment bank, where he led the firm's expansion and operational initiatives. He previously spent eight years at BTIG, ultimately as Co-Head of Global Equities, after serving as Head of U.S. Strategy and Franchise Sales and participating on several of the firm's leadership committees.
Earlier in his career, Dan held senior roles at JMP Securities, where he managed the institutional equity research salesforce and worked in corporate finance with a focus on financial services. He began his Wall Street career at Sandler O'Neill & Partners, specializing in mergers and acquisitions and capital raising for banks and thrifts.
Dan earned a B.A. in Government with a concentration in International Relations from Georgetown University.
Tom Herrick joined Fairlead Strategies as Chief Revenue Officer at the beginning of April 2025. He is responsible for business development concerning Fairlead research and asset management. Notably, this includes the Fairlead Tactical Sector ETF (TACK), which was launched in 2022 as a partnership between Fairlead and Cary Street Partners. Tom was previously Chief Market Strategist, Managing Director for Cary Street Partners from 2023 to 2024.
From 2015 to 2023, Tom was Chief Investment Officer for the firm. From 2015 to 2024 he was a member of Cary Street's Executive Committee. Prior to becoming Chief Investment Officer in 2015, he was a member of the portfolio advisory group manager research team. Tom joined the firm as a Financial Advisor in the Fredericksburg, VA office in 2008. Before joining Cary Street Partners, he was a Financial Advisor at Smith Barney and its predecessor firm Legg Mason Wood Walker.
He started his career in 1985 and spent 15 years at Wheat First Securities as a Financial Advisor. Tom earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Richmond in 1981. He graduated with honors in history.
Will Tamplin, CMT joined Fairlead Strategies since June 2021, where he holds a key role as Senior Analyst. As a registered investment advisor of Fairlead Asset Management LLC, he leverages his expertise in technical analysis and data analytics to support the firm's research and consulting services and ETF portfolio management. Prior to joining Fairlead Strategies, Will completed an internship with Matrix Capital Markets Group in the summer of 2020, where he honed his analytical skills.
Will received his Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designation in 2024. He graduated with honors from the University of Richmond with a BSBA, concentrating in Finance. In his free time, Will enjoys playing golf, having previously competed as a student-athlete on the UR Spider golf team.
Chris Olsen joined Fairlead Strategies as a Junior Analyst in November 2024. Prior to this, he gained experience at Vanguard and completed a summer internship at Centene, where he developed strong analytical and client-facing skills. Chris graduated with honors from the University of Richmond, earning a BSBA with a concentration in Finance. He is currently pursuing the Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designation.
